JOSÉ CARLOS DIAS
José Carlos Dias (OAB/SP – 16.009) was born on April 30, 1939 in the city of São Paulo. He has a law degree from the São Paulo University Law School (1963). He chaired the Justice and Peace Commission of the Archdiocese of São Paulo (1979-80), was Secretary of Justice for the State of São Paulo (1983-86) and Minister of Justice (1999-2000). A current member of the São Paulo Lawyers’ Institute (Instituto dos Advogados), he was a Board Member of the São Paulo Chapter of the Brazilian Bar Association (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil) and a Board Member of the São Paulo Lawyers Association (Associação dos Advogados de São Paulo – AASP). At present he is a member of the National Commission of Truth, of the Administrative Board of OSESP – Symphonic Orchestra of the State of São Paulo, of the Governing Board of the IDDD – Institute for the Defense of the Right to Defense, and of the Governing Board of the Cancer Institute of the State of São Paulo. Dias wrote two poetry books – Miragens do meu Deserto (Editora Talarico, 1953) and Vozes Perdidas (Editora Saraiva, 1957).
